Honorary Research Associate - Faculty of Management Sciences, Durban University of Technology 

MA on Cultural Anthropology (University of Silesia, Poland), PhD on Socio-Economic Geography and Habilitation on Tourism Geography (University of Warsaw, Poland). Currently Associate Professor at the Department of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management (UMCS University, Lublin) and at the Institute of Geography (UKW University, Bydgoszcz). Her main research area is tourism with a specific focus on socio-cultural tourism impact, responsible tourism, subjective wellbeing and marketing. She was co-responsible for the working group “Toward Research informed Policies” in the COST action IS1204 “Tourism, well-being and ecosystem services”. She has also wide experiences in implication/ help projects e.g. by UNESCO, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Norway Grants, Leonardo Partnership and others.

Dr. Andrea Giampiccoli

Department of Hospitality and Tourism

Durban University of Technology

Dr. Giampiccoli holds a PhD in a tourism topic from the Department of Geography of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa); a Master degree in Human Geography from the University of Leeds (England) and a BA in History from the State University of Milan. Since 2010 Dr. Giampiccoli has been a researcher in the tourism field (mostly focusing on community-based tourism) first at North-West University and currently at Durban University of Technology. Dr. Giampiccoli’s main research interests are related to all aspects and strategies concerning community-based tourism. Other research interests include tourism development strategies, food/food tourism, and sport events. He has published/co-published over 70 papers in academic journals, two book chapters, and presented/authored papers at local (South Africa) and international conferences.

Dr.  Mzobanzi Erasmus Mnguni

Dr E M Mnguni is a lecturer/programme coordinator for the Hospitality  programme at Durban University of Technology. Holds a Doctor of Tourism and Hospitality degree (D Tech) from Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and  Master's degree in Food and Beverage Management from Durban University of Technology (DUT).

Prof. Oliver Mtapuri

Oliver Mtapuri is a Professor in Development Studies at the School of Built Environment and Development in College of Humanities at the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN), Durban South Africa. He has a PhD in Development studies (UKZN) and an MBA degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. Oliver’s areas of research interest include poverty, redistribution and inequality, community-based tourism, public employment programmes, research methodologies, financial management, climate change and project management.

Prof. Pham Hong Long 

Faculty of Tourism Studies,

University of Social Sciences and Humanities

Prof Pham Hong Long is an Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University (Hanoi). He is also an inviting lecturer of Rikkyo University, Japan. He graduated from the Vietnam National University (Vietnam), University of Utara (Malaysia), and holds a Ph.D. from the Rikkyo University in Japan. His research areas include ecotourism, community-based tourism, sustainable tourism development, and tourism policies and governance in Southeast Asia. He is a leading consultant in sustainable tourism, community-based tourism, and ecotourism in protected areas in Vietnam for international organizations such as the British Council Vietnam, KOICA, GIZ, UNDP, UNESCO, USAID, ILO, and JICA. Long Pham has recently received a research grant from National Foundation for Science and Technology (NAFOSTED), Vietnam on the topic of value co-creation and destination brand equity. He is a senior policy advisor in tourism planning and development in Vietnam.

Dr. Dang Thi Phuong-Anh

Faculty of Tourism Studies,

Prof Dang Thi Phuong Anh is currently a lecturer at the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Science and Humanities, Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi. Before VNU, she was a lecturer at the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, Hanoi National University of Education. Phuong-Anh earned Ph.D. in major of Cultural Management at Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Art Studies (2017). She completed her MA and BA at the Faculty of Tourism Studies, VNU (2005 & 2012). Phuong-Anh has got publications in both international and Vietnam journals and conferences. She has collaborated with some projects as a senior member and with other universities as a visiting lecturer. She has received several grants from ITEC (India, 2014), NAFOSTED (Vietnam, 2019), ICAS (The Netherlands, 2021). Phuong-Anh’s enduring research focus is tourism, heritage, and cultural studies, including the conservation & promotion of heritage, the sustainability of tourism development, especially the role of the community in developing plans. More broadly, she has developed her academic interest in applying inter-disciplinary perspectives in social and cultural studies.

Prof. John Nauright 

The University of Sydney

Professor John Nauright, PhD holds a PhD in African history from Queen’s University in Canada. He currently leads the Sport, Movement and Social & Human Development (SMASHD) Research Group at The University of Sydney in Australia. He is Advisory Board member for the World Tourism Association for Culture and Heritage and academic affiliate of the Centre for Responsible Travel and Visiting Professor at the University of Ghana; University of the West Indies in Barbados and Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University in the Ukraine. While working at the University of Brighton in England he engaged in funded research projects on the development of Hastings Castle as a tourism site for cultural heritage and local economic development in 1066 Country; conducted research on the role of Sussex Bonfire Societies in heritage, culture and tourism. Current research focuses on heritage, cultural and economic development in the Atlantic World and on sustainable financial planning for at risk heritage properties. He is author or editor of 28 books and over 130 additional refereed publications.

Dr. Dr. Sean Jugmohan

Faculty of the Faculty of Management Sciences,

Durban University of Technology

Dr Jugmohan worked in Higher Education for 16 years and 6 years in Further Education and Training institutions. Dr Jugmohan lectured in the Tourism Programmes and currently supervises Masters and Doctoral students in the Tourism discipline. He held many headship positions at the Durban University of Technology. He first headed the Tourism Department in Riverside Campus and later headed the clustered department, Regional Governance and Development. The cluster included Public Management, Tourism, Law and Economics. Dr Jugmohan also worked in the DUT Quality Assurance Unit and was responsible for quality promotions in the Faculty of Management Sciences. He is currently acting HOD for Executive Education at the DUT Business School. His responsibilities at the Business School, includes, leading a team of staff, management of programmes, administration and operations, curriculum development for new formal programmes, and the development of executive education courses. He holds a Doctoral degree from Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and a Masters degree in Tourism Management from DUT. Dr Jugmohan has published and presented/authored papers in the Community-based Tourism and Tourism Curriculum. Dr Jugmohan was nominated to serve on the Tourism Standards Generating Board with the Tourism Sector Education Training Authority for 3 years.
